About PDF Editor
PDF Editor is a free online annotation tool that lets you add text, freehand drawings, highlights, rectangles, circles, and arrows to any PDF directly in your browser. Adjust color, opacity, stroke width, and font size for each annotation type. All editing happens client-side — your files are never uploaded to a server, ensuring complete privacy. No signup required, no watermarks, no installation needed.
How to Use
Upload a PDF (up to 50 MB) and use the toolbar to select an annotation tool — Text to add typed notes, Highlight to mark passages, Draw for freehand sketches, or Rectangle, Circle, and Arrow for structured callouts. Set your preferred color, opacity, and stroke width. Click on any page area to place your annotation. Use Undo and Redo to refine your work, navigate between pages, and click Save PDF to download the fully annotated document.
Common Use Cases
- Academic peer reviewers and editors can annotate PDF manuscripts with margin comments, highlighted passages, and correction arrows — creating a marked-up version to return to the author without specialized review software.
- Engineering and construction teams reviewing technical drawings in PDF can add markup annotations — dimension notes, revision circles, and approval stamps — directly onto the drawing for iterative design review.
- Teachers grading student PDF submissions can highlight errors, add hand-written correction notes using the Draw tool, and return the annotated file to students with clear visual feedback on every page.
- Real estate agents reviewing property listing PDFs with clients can highlight key sections in contracts, circle important figures, and add typed notes to clarify terms during virtual walkthroughs.
- Legal professionals reviewing contracts and agreements can highlight critical clauses, add rectangular callouts to specific terms, and annotate pages with typed notes before returning the marked PDF for negotiation.
