About Mastermind
Mastermind is a classic code-breaking board game invented in 1970. One player sets a secret code of colored pegs, and the other player tries to deduce it using logical reasoning based on hint pegs.
How to Play
The computer sets a secret code of 4 colored pegs. Click colors from the palette to fill your guess row, then submit. Black pegs mean right color in the right position; white pegs mean right color but wrong position. Use logic to narrow down the code.
Tips & Strategies
- Start with a guess using 4 different colors to get maximum information.
- If you get 0 pegs, none of those colors are in the code.
- Process of elimination: track which colors and positions are confirmed.
- On Easy mode, duplicate colors are possible — consider this in your deduction.
- Work systematically: fix confirmed colors in their positions and test the rest.
