About PDF Metadata Editor
The PDF Metadata Editor lets you view and precisely modify all XMP and DocInfo metadata fields in PDF documents — including title, author, subject, keywords, creator application, and producer — all without uploading your files to any server. Proper PDF metadata is critical for enterprise document management systems, search engine indexing of published PDFs, and compliance with archival standards like PDF/A. The tool reads and writes metadata using the PDF specification's document information dictionary, ensuring compatibility with any PDF reader.
How to Use
Drop a PDF file into the upload zone or click to browse your local files. The tool immediately displays all existing metadata fields you can edit inline — update the title, author name, subject, and keywords, or clear all metadata fields at once to strip identifying information. Click Save to download the updated PDF with your new metadata embedded, with no server upload and no quality loss.
Common Use Cases
- Adding accurate author, title, and keyword metadata to research papers before submitting to academic repositories or institutional archives
- Stripping sensitive creator application and username metadata from PDFs before sharing externally or publishing online
- Optimizing PDF metadata with targeted SEO keywords to improve search engine indexing of published documents
- Standardizing title, author, and subject fields across corporate document libraries for document management systems
- Updating stale author names and organization fields in legacy PDF archives after company rebranding or staff changes
